SWPS University of Social Sciences and Humanities or simply SWPS University (Polish: SWPS Uniwersytet Humanistycznospo?eczny) is a private university in Poland affiliated with the Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology and the Institute of Psychology, Polish Academy of Sciences. SWPS University was founded in 1996 by Andrzej Eliasz, Zbigniew Pietrasi?ski and Janusz Reykowski, former professors of the Institute of Psychology at the Polish Academy of Sciences.
SWPS University is one of the largest private universities in Poland. Over 16,000 undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students study at five campuses of SWPS University, located in major Polish cities, including Warsaw, Wroc?aw, Sopot, Pozna?, and Katowice.
The institution has been formerly known, for statutory reasons, as Warsaw School of Psychology, Warsaw School of Social Sciences and Humanities, Warsaw School of Advanced Social Psychology, and Warsaw School of Social Psychology (Szko?a Wy?sza Psychologii Spo?ecznej, SWPS). It has been a University since 2015.

SWPS University offers several undergraduate and graduate programs in English and over 30 undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral study programs, with over 70 specializations, in Polish. The University has been ranked by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education as the leading higher education institution offering Social Sciences programs, in Poland.

Faculties
Seven faculties of SWPS University have the authority to grant doctoral degrees in the following disciplines: cultural studies, literature studies, law, and sociology (in Warsaw) as well as psychology (in Warsaw, Wroc?aw and Sopot). The university also has the authority to grant post-doctoral degrees (habilitacja) in cultural studies (Warsaw) and psychology (Warsaw and Wroc?aw).

Rankings
SWPS University was ranked by Perspektywy, a Polish influential monthly magazine devoted to educational affairs as the second-best private college with master degree programs in Poland in 2017 (out of 96 institutions). In 2017 Perspektywy ranked the university 13th among all universities and 39th among all Polish academic institutions. Another magazine, Wprost, ranked it 18th in 2015. According to Webometrics, it is ranked 42th best in Poland.
